Thank You, Voters of Bennington County
I am grateful to the voters of Bennington County for their trust and support in electing me to the Southwest Vermont Regional Technical School District Board. Serving as one of your newest directors is an honor, and I am excited to work on behalf of our students, families, and educators.
As a Manchester resident and retired Army veteran, I look forward to highlighting the incredible opportunities Southwest Tech provides across our region. My name may not be as familiar in the Southshire, but I hope to change that by being present, engaged, and committed to advocating for all students.
A few weeks ago, while meeting with Senators Bernie Sanders, Peter Welch, and Representative Becca Balint in Washington, D.C., I was reminded of an important truth: we often thank those who serve in the military, but must show the same respect to skilled tradespeople, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, mechanics, and others, who keep our communities running.
Investing in career and technical education does not just benefit students; it strengthens our entire region. Good-paying careers lead to financial stability, boosts confidence, and create opportunities for better housing and healthcare. If we want to tackle the housing crisis in Southern Vermont, one solution is ensuring our students have access to these high-skill paths.
Thank you for your support. Visit www.thomaswest.co to share ideas as we work together to strengthen education and elevate the trades as essential, honorable careers throughout our region.
